Niagara Falls volunteer fire fighter came across an unconscious man, gave CPR until ambulance showed up
A Niagara Falls city worker, and part time volunteer fire fighter, has been awarded the fire chief's coin for saving a man's life.
Deputy Chief Ken Henry says JT Mills applied CPR when he came across an unconscious man at Dorchester and Casey Street back in March. "A slight pulse was detected, and the man started to breath. However, once again, the vital signs became absent, and JT reinstated another round of CPR until ambulance arrived."
He says by the time JT left the scene, paramedics revived the man and got him sitting up.
"Although we are unaware of the patient's outcome, JT went above and beyond to save someone's life that day. Once the man was in the ambulance, JT returned to work, and continued his day as if nothing unusual had happened."
When Mayor Jim Diodati asked him to speak during the presentation at council, JT said he had to go to training.
