A 29-year-old from St. Catharines is facing impaired driving charges after a fatal crash in his hometown.
ST. CATHARINES - One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in St. Catharines.
Police say a white Honda hit a tree in the area of Bunting Road and Eastchester Ave early this morning. The NRP got the call shortly after 3:00 a.m.
Three men were in the car at the time. A man in his 20s died at the scene, a 19-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the 29-year-old driver from St. Catharines was arrested. He was taken to hospital for a medical assessment.
The driver has since been charged with impaired operation causing death and impaired operation causing bodily harm.
Officers have closed off Bunting Road between McPhail Crescent and Dunkirk Road, and Eastchester Avenue at McPhail Crescent for the investigation.

Tragically, one of the passengers of the car has died due to the injuries they sustained.
