Camp Widow Helps During Difficult Time

The camp is this weekend in Toronto, roughly 250 people including from Niagara are going

If you are recently widowed, or have been for years, there's a group that works to help uplift those experiencing this loss.

Camp Widow is this weekend in Toronto, giving tools, insight and support.

Communications Director Nadine Bell says this weekend is already booked solid, but they are planning for next June.  "We have them in Moncton, New Brunswick, we have them in London, Ontario.  I believe there is a small group in southwestern Ontario, that includes folks from Niagara, and they meet in different locations."

She says people come from across Canada and the US, including one person widowed 25 years ago.

This weekend about 250 people from across Niagara, Canada and the US are showing up, for an event she says will have lots of workshops.  "Complex grief, we have one on trauma, there's an event where people gather who've experienced loss in a similar way, by accident, by a heart related, by cancer."

This is the 9th year, started by Soaring Spirits International, and now Soaring Spirits Canada runs the event.  There are regional groups in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and other areas of Canada.
