Thorold Councillor Jim Handley says enough people kept asking concerning corner of Davis Street, council approved his idea
A new 3-way stop sign will go up at the corner of Davis Street and Niagara Falls Road in Thorold.
Councillor Jim Handley says many residents were asking for it.
He addressed Councillor Ken Sentance's concern that currently stop signs are 50 metres apart. "Thorold's probably got more 4-way stop intersections than any municipality I've ever been in Ontario. We've got them 25 metres apart from each other. Drive down Albert Street, McCann Street."
City staff added installation of speed bumps on Niagara Falls Road will be adjusted accordingly.
Councillor Tim O'Hare called Niagara Falls Road a bit of a race way. "If we can slow down the traffic, and typically a stop sign without a lot of expense can do that job. Whether it's at Davis, or whether it's at the proceeding street, if that's one the residents want."
Councillor Handley says people in the area have submitted petitions twice since 2023.
