Police taking more impaired drivers off the road, and arresting two in recent RIDE checks.
Police were on patrol Friday night in Welland and Niagara Falls, and stopped roughly 300 vehicles.
18 were asked to give breath samples, with five registering alert, that meant a 7-day licence suspension.
On January 1st, the provincial government increased that suspension period to 7 days, prior to this year it was 3-days.
Police add in Niagara Falls, they pulled a driver over after watching him leave a bar, he registered fail on a breath sample, his vehicle taken for 7-days, licence suspended for 90-days.
And at a Welland RIDE point, police say a woman gave a false name to avoid arrest, because she was wanted in Haldimand County.
Police add she was not allowed to drive, was suspended, she was arrested and sent back to Haldimand OPP.
