Today marks the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

For Christians around the world, Fat Tuesday as it's also known, symbolizes the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.

Here are some interesting pancake facts to share with friends and family today.

The world record for pancake flips is 399 in two minutes.

The record for the most pancakes served in an eight-hour period is 34,818.

The highest pancake toss was 329 cm.

Before flipping their pancakes, people in France make a wish with one hand while holding a coin in the other.
