Politicians and residents upset
Members of the Ontario Nurses Association have joined a growing number of politicans and residents in decrying a decision
by Niagara Health Services to close the long-erm care home in Welland in June, when the provincial licence expires.
Niagara Falls NDP MPP Wayne Gates wants the Minister of Long-term Care to step in and provide funding to help keep the home open.
Welland Mayor Frank Campion said the conversation about closing the extended care unit at the Hospital should have started years ago,
not months before the closing date.
Meanwhile a Welland townhall meeting is planned for this Friday at Civic Square beginning at 6:30. Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch is among those slated to attend.
