Niagara RIDE Finds Impaired Driver

Two checkpoints were set up on Friday, in Fort Erie and Port Colborne, in which police stopped roughly 300 vehicles in total

A 54-year old Fort Erie man was taken off the road by a RIDE checkpoint in Niagara on Friday.

Police set up two locations, one in Port Colborne and the other in Fort Erie.

They say they stopped roughly 300 vehicles, with 11 drivers asked to give a breath sample.

That's when the Fort Erie man was charged with impaired driving due to alcohol.

Police also issued eight other tickets such as driving without a licence, having a Class G1 without a qualified driver, and speeding.

Some good news... several people at local campgrounds expressed appreciation for the RIDE checkpoints.
