Trudeau government tightlipped about what's in bill
With the issue of gun control front and centre in the U.S., it appears the Trudeau Liberals will take the lead and introduce a new gun control bill today.
The Liberals have been tightlipped about what measures are in the bill but there is speculation it may include a phasing out of legal handgun ownership with a cap on the number of firearm licences.
It could also outlaw the importation and manufacture of new handguns, or at least enact tougher storage rules.
As well, it may see the return of a buyback program for all military-style assault rifles legally purchased in Canada.
Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino will present the bill after the daily question period.
