He says the current wait of 306 days is nearly double that of a year ago, and it's getting worse
306... that's the number of days Niagara Falls MPP says it takes to wait for an MRI in the region.
Wayne Gates called out the government to maintain public health care, adding that number is nearly double from a year ago.
"This crisis will become another excuse for the government to push for privatization of our health care services. But let me be clear, privatization is not the answer, it only benefits the wealthy few, who will leave the rest of us suffering. We must hold the government accountable."
He reminded the government it has committed to ensuring Niagara residents have access to MRIs.
"Since 2016, we've fought tooth and nail, to secure additional funding to get additional MRI operating hours. In 2021, we received funding to operate a brand new MRI machine, and despite these efforts, our wait times have only worsened."
He added they cannot allow public health care to fail on purpose, and 306 days is unacceptable.
