The Niagara Falls MPP is calling on the province to do more to protect workers. Wayne Gates is also the Ontario NDP Critic for Health and Safety and the WSIB.
Gates says companies try to lower costs by cutting corners on safety.
He brought up the death of an 18-year-old Mississauga man, killed on the job over the summer after doing something he wasn't trained to do.
Gates says cuts to safety training education, workplace inspections and supervision levels, all make it more dangerous for workers on the job.
The comments come during National Skilled Trades and Technology Week.
