Niagara's COVID-19 death toll remains at 509.
Niagara Region Public Health is reporting 40 new COVID-19 cases today.
The area's death toll is steady at 509.
Niagara Health currently reporting 61 patients with the virus, 41 being treated primarily for COVID-19.
There are nine ICU patients, including six that are unvaccinated.
Throughout Niagara, there are 1,523 active cases, including 506 in St. Catharines, 254 in Niagara Falls and 176 in Welland.
There are also 12 active outbreaks in the region.
To date, over 1,011,000 vaccinations have been administered.
About 87.2 percent of eligible Niagara residents have one shot and 83.6 percent have two.
