Council says measures cause delays for passengers going through customs.
The Canadian Airports Council is asking the federal government to get rid of COVID-19 protocols at customs.
Currently, travelers coming into Canada must use the ArriveCan app to answer questions about their health and are subject to random COVID-19 testing.
Interim President Monette Pasher says as a result, it takes four times as long to process international travelers coming through customs than it did prior to the pandemic.
Pasher also notes international arrivals at Canadian airports are so backed up that people are being kept on planes for more than an hour after they land, due to a lack of physical space.
