NRP say a woman was trafficked in Toronto and Niagara
Police have rescued a woman they say has been the victim of human trafficking throughout Toronto and Niagara Falls.
They began looking into this case in August, and were able to identify a man and woman they say were responsible.
Today, using search warrants in multiple places around Toronto and Niagara, with help from many police forces, NRP arrested two suspects in St. Catharines.
Police have charged 47-year old Sascha El-Abiad of St. Catharines, a full patch member of Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, with:
- Human trafficking, s. 279.01 Criminal Code
- Receiving material benefit, s. 279.02(1) Criminal Code
- Sexual Assault, s. 271 Criminal Code (2 counts)
They've also charged 31-year old Paisley Rose West McClymont, also of St. Catharines, with:
- Human trafficking, s. 279.01 Criminal Code
- Receiving material benefit, s. 279.02(1) Criminal Code
Both were being held in custody pending a bail hearing today in St. Catharines.
Police also have reason to believe there may be other victims, and therefore have released the suspects' pictures in the hope that more people come forward.
