Police made the arrests in Thorold and Niagara Falls checks
Two people have been arrested for impaired driving after RIDE checks Sunday evening in Thorold and Niagara Falls.
Through the night, police say they stopped over 1,000 vehicles, and had 17 drivers give breath samples, and another do field sobriety tests.
Police add two other drivers had their licences suspended for three days after breath samples registered 'alert'.
16 other tickets were handed out for other infractions contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Police add impaired driving remains the leading criminal offence causing death in Canada.
